March 8th is International Women’s Day.

Each year International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8, a tradition which started in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organisations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women’s groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day. And so do we. This year’s theme is inspiring change.

Here at Our Flower Patch we’re celebrating the renaissance of the British flower growing industry, which is being driven forward by female growers. We’re doing our bit to encourage the next generation by teaching girls (and boys) the skills to run a cut flower business. At some schools we’re being helped by some local female entrepreneurs who are mentoring our young growers.

The future’s bright for female growers. We’ll keep you posted about our young ones.
